BLESSED CHILD_JAY BARRY

No one else can dance your dance, no one else can sing your song, and no one else can write your story.” – Lisa Nichols

The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story and your vision. So therefore, “tell your story as only you can, don’t forget-no one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell” as Charles de Lint once said and today, one unique soul has stepped up to tell his story and sing his song.

We’re living in a superficial world where so many people are scared to come out of the closet to express their true feelings, pains and their experiences most especially ill-fated ones. It’s quite easy for people to share and tell stories about their healthy state of wellbeing and happy moments in life but it’s usually difficult when it comes to pouring out one’s soul expressing one’s excruciating pains, fears and trauma through a health challenge or difficulty. Life is a battle, it takes a heart full of courage to survive and there are many survivors today but a few are willing to share or tell their stories that can encourage and inspire others going through similar challenges.

But Jay Barry isn’t among the many who for the fear of ill-disposed reasons would want to keep his story close to his chest. Living with a Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) is sure a gloomy and traumatic challenge. It’s a terminal illness that disrupts a patient’s normal life. However Jay Barry is one unique and blessed child who is musically gifted, inspiring with sheer determination, unflinching hope and resolute spirit to lead a vivacious life and in the course of it inspire and support others.

Sickle Cell Disease is an unrelenting disease and a disorder of the blood caused by an inherited abnormal haemoglobin. The abnormal haemoglobin causes distorted (sickled) red blood cells. The sickled red blood cells are fragile and prone to rupture, causing painful episodes and health crisis. According to the American Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Nigeria bears 50% of the global burden.” This means that, globally, for every two babies born with the sickle cell disease, one is a Nigerian.

Jay Barry is one amongst many and a survivor who has been through the “fire” and has come out more refined with his purpose in life now better defined. He has fought his way through so many life threatening crisis and through his ordeal which he admits has tested his faith, he however by the grace of God did not succumb to the trials his condition has put him through; he refused the blasphemous temptation of cursing God for ‘inflicting’ him with the sickle cell disorder instead his faith in God has become reinvigorated as he believes he’s a blessed Child destined to live his life maximally making positive exploits and imparting his generation by creating awareness through his music about the sickness.

The song “Blessed Child” by Jay Barry is a genuine effort geared towards advocacy for support and understanding for those living with and fighting the disease and it’s also an awareness campaign about the disease and the need for intending couples to always check their genotype compatibility before they tie the nuptial knot in order to avoid raising offspring that would face the same fate with those born with the blood disease.

Show some love, Help Jay Barry get his message across to as many people as possible by downloading and sharing his inspiring and true life story composed into an awesomely-inspirational and motivational hip hop song. Help him create the awareness that is needed to boost more research in the field of Medicine that can bring succour to those living with the blood disorder. Jay Barry is a survivor let’s celebrate him for his boldness to share and tell his story, let’s dance to his song and sing along to his raptivism, conscious and larger-than-life music.
