SPOKESMAN_MAKE DEM KNOW

Aside the Boko Haram crisis that has ravaged the North East of Nigeria, little attention has been given to the incessant killing of innocent women, men and children across Nigeria by a group of terroristic herdsmen. Benue, Taraba and Southern Kaduna has been in the news lately due to the gruesome killings that continue to draw the ire of all men and women of conscience who have chosen not to remain silent in the face of such injustice and heinous crimes against humanity while it is believed the government is doing little to stop the pogrom.

‘Spokesman’ as a Gospel Artiste is not left out of the growing train of people who are vocal and protesting the killings-showing indignation at the plight and suffering of victims maimed and displaced from their homes. Being an indigene of Kaduna State from the Southern part, Spokesman is abreast with the true state of the carnage the area has witnessed recently for the ‘disturbing truth’ to be heard, the ‘Spokesman’ has to speak through a veritable medium which to him is the gospel music he creates.

Spokesman recognises the power of music as a ‘weapon’ that can be used to promote love, preach peace and unity in this trying period. And for that reason he’s driven to make this song ‘Make Dem Know’ a song produced by G-Beats and SteveRawd-mixed and mastered by Rasco.

For Spokesman, this song ‘Make Dem Know’ is yet another call to people who have been hurt to transcend the hurt and overcome vengeance. The song seeks seeks to emphasize the three fundamental foundations for life: "Love, Hope and Love." Faith to conquer adversity, Hope for a better and greater tomorrow and Love to overcome hate.

"Make dem Know that person wey God don bless no man can curse" as the chorus says will embolden your mind and spirit the melody is smooth and vocal delivery is energetically on point. There’s a story Spokesman tells in the song it's quite emotional, elating and calls for sober reflection; that you can only attest to if you kindly download the song.

DOUBLE M AKA RAP HABALIST_JARIMI

Double M A.K.A. Rap Habalist is an underground Hip Hop Artiste from Northern Nigeria currently based in Abuja. He was born and raised in the educational town of Zaria, Kaduna State. Double M carved a niche for himself as one of the foremost Rap Artiste that was sought after for performances at student shows and award nights back in the heydays of Students Union Government social activities at the famous Ahmadu Bello University where he later bagged a degree from.
His passion for Music began from his Secondary School days in the late 90’s as I observed his style of music was greatly influenced by great Rap Acts like Snoop Doog, Dr Dre, Eminem and a host of some notable underground Emcees like Red Man and Method Man. Over the years Double M has found his rhythm of life in making good music in a genre that remains unpopular most especially among folks in Northern Nigeria.
Nevertheless Hip hop today is without a doubt widely accepted amongst music lovers in the North as some pundits will credit the efforts of ‘Indigenous Rappers’ who deploy the use of local dialects widely spoken in their communities to sing or rap but before the Hausa chanting rap verses and choruses began making waves and domineering airwaves the likes of Double M were there doing it effortlessly and passionately.
Double M is arguably Northern Nigeria’s most underrated lyricist because he maintains a low profile but his outstanding skills on the Microphone won’t shield him from the luring spotlight whenever he grabs the mic. It may also interest you to know that Double M is a bonifide Hausa dude; the Rap Habalist is to Arewa Hip hop what the legendary Mamam Shata is to Hausa folklore music.
‘Jarimi’ is a Hausa word meaning ‘Warrior’ in English. Double M swings lyrical (s)Words on this Boom Bap rap in Hausa language. Don’t worry about an English translation of his punch lines if you don’t understand or speak Hausa. but If you’re a true hip hop head, just knod your head to Jarimi coz it’s a classic material.
